The Art of the Invisible World Through Cloth Divination and Voice Kontumbli
Many traditional cultures have developed sophisticated systems for peering into the unshaped world of what is to come. The Dagara tribe of West Africa has a highly articulated method of divination that is deeply intuitive, sacred, and profound.
This is an ancient practice that is based on the rich cosmological vision of Malidoma Some’s people. To the Dagara people, when a major event or transition is happening in one’s life, divination is in order. To them, there are no coincidences.
Consultations are utilized as an ongoing practice to actively be in right relationship with the Ancestors and the Other world. The purpose of divination is to discern the patterns of your world and the intersections with spirit as they relate to
your life with an eye towards alignment, empowerment, and community welfare. Divination is one way in which to focus our attention on the speech coming to us from the “other world” and to orient our lives to move more in accord with the ways of
nature and spirit. This form of deep consultation with the unseen world is a powerful way to address the challenges we face in living a life rooted in spirit. With the blessings of the Ancestors, the generosity of the house of Bakhye, and the
guidance of Malidoma Some’, Ted Duncan and Rowena Pantaleon have been initiated into this ancient practice by the Elders in Africa in 2002 and 2003. This is an opportunity to join these two gifted initiates as we journey together into the Unseen
World, being assisted by the Kontumbli people. From cloth divination to a direct conversation with the Other World then to the ceremonies to intend change. Led by
