Shamanic Circle

As time immemorial, circles have been created to commune with one another, to share deep stories, and to bring out each other’s “medicine”, each other’s gifts. This year, I am envisioning another circle, a circle of committed women to deepening our hearts into the indigenous soul.

An Elder in a small village in Burkina Faso, West Africa told me last year that our modern world, our machine world can not survive without the old world, without the ancient ways. This Elder expressed that the soul can not survive until it comes Home to its indigenous-ness. The indigenous people of Dagara believe that without the intimate relationship to the ancestors and the living world of nature, our lives are not full. It is devoid of depth. What is it like to live a life steeped in the realm of the indigenous? What is your life like to live in harmony with the ancestors? How would your life be if the veil between this realm and the other realm is thin and available to you?

Combining the teachings of the Dagara people, drum journeys, cowry shell divination, stick divination, and rituals, this circle invites you to join in weaving the old with the new, weaving new stories, and creating a circle of Power.

These gatherings will meet once a month on Thursday evenings from 6:30p-9:30p culminating with a vision quest mid July of 2006. The group will also meet once a month on their own with a specific intention from the previous meeting. Sessions will begin in the Fall of 2005 when there are 8 committed members.

I look forward to dreaming this circle of Power with you. I would love to journey with you in opening the doorways of the invisible world so we can empower each other and commune in ways we have never done before.
